Why was such a GREAT, GREAT, GREAT thing as Internet not foretold in the Bible?
by Pinku injws claim that even such a small thing as proclaiming 1986 as the international year for peace was foretold in the bible.
this raises the question: why was such a great thing as internet (the influence of which could not even be compared with anything in the history at all) not foretold in the bible?
with internet and tv the world has become literally a global village!.

Ah, good question. It was, however, foretold by Nostradamus....
"After the great trouble, a net will be cast that will encompass the whole of the earth and many will be lost. Clouds will form in the heavens and secrets will be cast upwards, stolen from the hiding places will the words kept therein fall. Peoples will cry aloud, "Yahoo!" (from the Book of Senselessness, Nostradamus)

Rebranding of the Watchtower to JW.org - how long in the works?
by truthseeker inthe transformation from watchtower to jw.org is nothing short of remarkable.. animated cartoons (caleb and sophia), the new jw.org slogan, international convention websites (featuring previously unthinkable entertainment in the kingdom hall) - how long do you think this has been in the works for?.
i feel very uneasy about what is happening - it's so sudden, seems like it all happened within the space of a year.. i sense some intelligence about all this, as if it has been some carefully orchestated performance - to dazzle and distract.. the kingdom ministry of 1999 was totally against the internet and now they seem to embrace it along with tablets and smartphones.. why the sudden change?
do you think it is anything to do with social media?.

Been in the works for quite a while, at least since Jaracz got sick...he was really the final piece of the old guard. Still held in awe like one of the original apostles....with him gone technology was able to run amuck.....

Give me a reason not to go back
by chukky 594 inbeen out now for 10 yrs but life is a mess.
starting to think its because i have no spiritual compass.
why shouldn't i consider going back?.
-
Separation of Powers
Your life being a mess has absolutely nothing to do with you leaving the organization. Life is the result of decisions. If your life is screwed up consider what decisions you made to get you there and make better decisions in the future. There is no rewind, but you can change the channel.

Was droping bomb on Hiroshima in 1945 evil?
by new hope and happiness insorry for such a depressing question, but i was moved by a picture i saw of the consequences.
( a woman carrying her child) and i realised:-.
a) it was a civillian population.. b) i don't see how a nuclear holocaust can ever be right.. c) they could have bombed tokyo where all the generals lived but chose hiroshima.. d) the irony after the bombing america conceeded to many of japans terms.. your opinion would be valued..

Yes and No. It is an ethical dilemma. Hiroshima was chosen as it purportedly had a high concentration of troops, military facilities and factories. Most other cities had been devastated by bombing, but Hiroshima was still intact and thus, a good "sampling" of what the actual damage from the A-bomb could render.
Some would argue that it was a life-saving move on the part of then President Truman. He believed, or at least tried to justify the bombing by stating that it would ultimately save thousands upon thousands of lives that would needlessly die if the war continued. That reasoning is understandable. However, if the sole intent was to end the war, as I am sure would have occurred by Japan's recognition of the devastation of Hiroshima, then why drop another bomb on Nagasaki three days later?
The reality is the evil outweighs the good. The US had developed 2 bombs, distinct in their characteristics, both with lethal capabilities. There is no question in my mind that from the beginning it was the intent to drop both of them. The US had the opportunity to end the war, solidify their position as THE military superpower, and prove that all the efforts of the Manhattan project were justified.
In the words of Oppenheimer, " I am become death, the destroyer of worlds." (Vishnu, fromn the Hindu sacred writings of the Bhagavad-Gita)
Sounds pretty evil to me.

Hey Matt, Glad you are enjoying life. I agree with your agnostic/atheistic position. This continues to be my position as well, and is constantly reinforced by allt he JW drivel. Case in point, "Jehovah has experienced injustice in ways we can't even understand. Imagine the injustice of seeing your own son falsely accused as a criminal and then tortured and killed." Uh, yeah, didn't he want that? Wasn't that his plan all along, oh excuse me, purpose all along.
